Xuga and Kinetihear Will Represent JA Malta in Riga, Latvia!

Upper Secondary:

Team Name: Xuga

XUGA designs and produces sustainable island wear by transforming retired textiles, most notably repurposed towels, into comfortable, wearable apparel that is as distinctive as it is eco-conscious. Every piece is one-of-a-kind, because no two source materials are ever the same. Built on the principles of the circular economy, XUGA exists at exactly the right moment; when consumers increasingly demand that the clothes they wear, reflect the values they hold. The ambition behind XUGA is clear: to prove that a student-led enterprise from a small Mediterranean island can offer a scalable, replicable model for sustainable fashion across Europe and beyond.

University:

Team Name: Kinetihear

Kinetihear’s product, MotionCharge, is a self-sustaining battery extension system designed for cochlear implant users who currently rely on disposable zinc-air batteries that typically last only 16–40 hours before replacement is required. MotionCharge is a motion-powered battery extension system that captures kinetic energy from daily movement such as walking, head movement, and general activity. This energy is converted into electricity to continuously recharge hearing implant batteries, reducing replacement frequency and extending battery life.

We look forward to meeting the teams in Riga, Latvia for #Gen_E 2026!
