From Plastic Waste to Lifetime Writing – JA Estonia’s Finalists for Gen-E 2026!

Estonian student company Kiryak developed a sustainable writing tool by replacing traditional ink with a durable metal-alloy core.

Their innovation is driven by a female-led STEM team, who researched, developed, and tested a unique pen core through metal casting experiments, and paired it with a sustainable casing. It’s completely safe, smudge-free and produces no microplastics. With over 90% of pens never being recycled, Kiryak offers a sustainable, long-lasting alternative to disposable writing tools.
