Enalion is a mini company from Greece developing an innovative solution to one of the world’s biggest dietary challenges: excessive sodium consumption.
By combining Messolonghi fleur de sel, Greek Ulva seaweed and natural plant-based ingredients, the team has created a product that helps reduce sodium intake without compromising flavour.
Rather than relying on chemical salt substitutes, Enalion uses a flavour-design approach rooted in Marine Biology, Food Science and Sensory Science. This allows the product to deliver a satisfying taste experience while supporting healthier everyday cooking and preserving the versatility consumers expect from food.
The team’s innovation also reflects a strong sustainability dimension. By using Greek seaweed as a food ingredient, Enalion supports the local blue economy and the responsible use of marine resources. Through scientific collaborations, real market sales and continuous product evaluation, the team is exploring a more natural, behaviour-friendly and sustainable way to reduce sodium intake.
