Moore UB is developing a new technology to reduce overconsumption and unnecessary costs in the maritime industry through digital rope identification.
Today, ropes are often discarded because they cannot be traced back to their certifications, even when they are still fully functional. This results in millions of meters of rope being wasted every year.
At the same time, new EU regulations such as the Digital Product Passport and Extended Producer Responsibility will require ropes to be digitally traceable and recyclable.
Their solution integrates a magnetic tracking stripe into the core of the rope, allowing the rope and its certification to be easily scanned and identified. This helps extend rope lifetime, reduce waste, and lower costs for maritime companies.
